Wish You Were Here? More like All Our Yesterdays

by Neil MacLean on January 9, 2008

Thanks for the reminder Martin.

A few weeks ago I was persuaded to write something for an inflight mag about the revived WYWH. It’s always good to see Judith C. but this was the first time I’ve talked to son Mark. Nice guy, shame about the chocolate eclair habit.

We kicked off with a classic 70′s image of WYWH reporter Jim Lloyd holding up a New York delicacy for the the nation’s wonderment. “And this, he said breathlessly. “This nine layer gastronomic indulgence is known as – a Big Mac!”

Next Monday 14 Jan at 4.30pm, ITV1 will be kicking off Wish you were here now and then, which will look back at some of the places visited by the original Wish you were here programme. It will also offer a look at holiday destinations for 2008. Judith Chalmers’ son, Mark Durden Smith, will be fronting the new show. To get you in the mood, here is some footage of the original show. I had forgotten about the catchy theme tune. Martin Couzins, online editor [From Wish you were here revived]
