Okay, I will kick off this article with my comments.

My first impulse is feeling no responsibility on the part of Mark Warner in posting this anywhere on their websites. After all, when asked to repair the shutters, they did send repairmen there to do the job. After their work, I see this as the responsibility of the occupant to make sure these repairs are done right for security purposes of their family and to also use this security.

But then on my second further thought or impulse, I do hold Mark Warner Resort somewhat responsible for this event. If the past articles are correct, Mark Warner Resort was aware (and had even spoke to the guests) about leaving children unattended. I feel after their warning (which I would have made a written warning for the sake of my resort's reputation), I would have also informed the guests that any future occurrences of this occurring would be reported immediately (for the sake of these children) to the proper authorities as negligence and endangering the safety of these children. I would have also made sure this was included in the written warning and signed by all parties as an enforceable agreement.

If this had been done, I feel little Madeleine (and any other children at this resort) would have been safe today.

And before anyone complains about the resort not having the proper services available, once again I feel this is the responsibility of the guests. I have never put the burden of the caregiving of my children on any resort when traveling. This is the responsibility of parents such as myself - not strangers. In fact, I would not even want strangers keeping my children.

I only prayer this poor child, if still alive, is being taken care of and happy, and will one day see her brother and sister again. It is obvious how very much these children miss Madeleine in their lives.

One last comment, who ever heard of going on a family vacation without any type of stroller with twins and a 4-year-old. These portable strollers can also be purchased at a very cheap rate if needed - cheap enough for even myself to afford for the sake of my children.
