These sort of gestures are not usually for me but Timothy O’Neil-Dunne (who I last talked to in Redmond back in the last century) over at the T2 Impact blog calls for us all to back the red shirt for Myanmar protest tomorrow and I am going to turn my wardrobe upside down to find [...]

Here’s the link, where’s my cheque?
September 27th, 2007 · No Comments
Somebody round here thinks I am both cheap and corruptible.
An email arrives:
Hi, We are willing to remunerate you with a fee of USD $50.00 for writing a post about HotelsblahblahIcan’thearyoublahblah.com on your blog.
Thanks. Do I look that stupid? Or poor?

Quick posting to WordPress
September 26th, 2007 · No Comments
Can anyone say Photoshop?
This morning I found a QuickPost bookmarklet for WordPress which replicates something which Tumblr users find very handy. Given that a sizeable chunk of my working day at the moment seems to be spent trying to find the easiest possible route between client and published content, this looks very good indeed. However, recently I have noticed a deterioration in my Macbook’s performance accompanied by increasingly frequent visits from the spinning beach ball of death.
You know what’s coming don’t you?
Tonight I [...]

Corporate blogging made easy
September 1st, 2007 · No Comments
Now that I have got that email-to-WordPress posting business sorted out, the work flow looks like this: the client writes a quick email (on their mobile phone if they prefer) or opens Windows Live Writer (they are MS people) to compose something more considered. They hit send - or publish - and off it goes [...]

The Postie rings twice
September 1st, 2007 · No Comments
That last test was to turn on a cron-less version of Postie which updates your WordPress blog via email without requiring users to set up a cron job. The plug-in author doesn’t have a lot of confidence in it but it seems to work.
