PR firm’s spammy site exposed
January 7, 2007
Most PR companies I run across in the travel business don’t have a clue about search engine marketing. You can tell that from their own websites. However, here’s a German PR firm that seems to know only too well how Google works.
Via Google Blogoscoped an exposure (literally) of 4iMedia’s dubious keyword practices. Their site contains an image map hiding acres of hidden keywords, a tactic normally employed to fool the search engines while providing zero benefit to users.
How dumb is that? If I was a potential client, I would seriously doubt the integrity - or intelligence (because the image map might have been applied to the site by a designer or SEO without the company’s knowledge) - of a PR firm involved in such insidious practices.

Wow, thats pretty poor and outdated… Reminds me of my first foray into SEO when I noticed a lot of sites went down this road. As you say, could have been implemented by someone not in house (to at least oversee what SEO tactics would be used).
Also reminds of other instances where PR companies have tried to work the system. http://www.prblogger.com/2006/11/borkowskiyoutu...
