Online: Adding value through content pays dividends

January 3, 2007

When it comes to turning strangers into friends into customers, there’s a direct link between trust and content. That’s why I think every travel webmaster could learn a thing or two from a 21 year old part time student from Brisbane. Chris started dabbling in Adsense while he was still at school and now rakes in $120 a day from his various sites.
What’s the connection with the travel business? Just that people who make a long-term success of Adsense sites tend to know lots about search engine optimisation and creating the sort of content people value. And any travel company in a competitive market needs to be both found and trusted to maximise its online potential.
As Chris says:

Whether you are a CEO of a large company or a factory worker working on assembly line you are being paid for the value you provide. When it comes to websites you also need to be providing value to your visitors for them to continue to use your service, and by providing value you will gain them as a loyal reader, and as a reader you can advertise to them. The more people and the more value you provide the more you will make. It’s a simple equation really.

That’s how I like my equations. Simple. Travel companies don’t necessarily want people to click on ads but they do want them to buy their holidays.
One way to help them make that decision is by providing valued content.
