Bloglines rolls out playlists

November 10, 2006

Just as I contemplated moving all my feeds to Google’s brilliant Reader, Bloglines has rolled out a new Playlists function. Just like with iTunes for your music or podcasts, you can now organise feeds into distinct categories or even multiple folders. Will this be more useful than Google Reader’s tags? I shall use both and no doubt a favoured solution will emerge pretty quickly.

Incidentally, Bloglines is vastly improved if you tweak it with Jon Hick’s design. Much nicer.

Blogmailr redux

November 9, 2006

[tags: blogs, web.2.0]

Now I have had more time to read the FAQ I see the Blogmailr promo line will appear every time I post by email, unless I pay $5 a month for a commercial account.

Shame, but this could still be a useful service.
I have also worked out how to create a link (that one goes to the Blogmailr FAQ) and how to add tags - at least I think so. This is another test of that.
Update: Scott from Blogmailr, has posted a comment to let me know they have made “published with” optional. Good idea. For one thing it means some of us are more likely to recommend a commercial license to corporate clients. Now, to try and get tags working properly.

On AirPort at the airport

November 8, 2006

I am plugged in at Starbucks at Stansted airport, testing Blogmailr -
yes, without the “e” in best 2.0 style. This a new service allowing
you to post to your blog by email. I have done something like this
before - was it with MSN Spaces? - and once again it involves trying
to remember an obscure address, comprised of random numbers and
letters. Not such a problem on my own machine or in Gmail but I would
be stuffed if I was on a borrowed computer.
Thought I would see Fergus from Nooked in the airside wi-fi area. For
no better reason than he was there last time I came through. The
other day, at Heathrow, I found myself beside Ewan Spence from the
Podcast Network.
It’s a dull day when I go through a British airport without bumping
into someone at the forefront of the social media revolution.
