Sunday distraction: a tablet, Google Docs and WordPress

October 15, 2006

I love the Mac experience but I am sure half the joy of switching this summer came from the fact my tablet pc had about 200 programmes on it and a whole mess of debris from mucking around with MySQL, Apache and - yeh, like I know what I am doing - even Ruby on Rails. The machine was running like a slug in jam.
So just for heck of it, I flushed everything yesterday and started again with a clean install. The MacBook is still number one in this household but I have enjoyed messing around with the digital pen and ink again now my the tablet is back at its pristine best. For example, this morning I lounged back in a big comfy seat as Junior MacLean watched Return of the Jedi and while he did his best to decapitate me with a large green light saber, I doodled in OneNote and scribbled out mind maps with my pen and MindManager.
Since I bought my tablet a couple of years ago, the whole web apps business has taken off so I have decided to lay off filling the hard drive with bloatware again (honestly) and will use the internet as much as possible when I am using the tablet.
Thus the main point of this post is it is really just an experiment to make sure Google Docs is working nicely with my WordPress install.
Update: it posted ok but I still need to work out how to assign tags and categories.
