Yahoo! joins the chase to fill your travel needs

April 12, 2006

Yahoo!’s Search Blog just announced Yahoo! FareChase, a travel search engine which rolls together flight finding and hotel pricing with their new satellite imagery so you can pick the hotel nearest your bachelor party.

Select flights to New York and they say:

If you are logged in, we pick up your location based on your user preference.

I was logged in but got nothing which makes me wonder if the service is US only right now.

But here’s something really interesting.

You might want to check out other user’s travel plans who are considering staying at the same hotels as you from integration with the Trip Planner beta. This’ll help you get a sense of what other people think of the hotels you’re considering, and you might get some ideas for cool stuff to do on your trip.

You might also get some ideas of hotels to avoid thanks to some first hand reports from Trip Planner. (Is it really still beta?) Something else for the travel PR business to consider.

Somewhere down the line, I wonder if they will also return images from Flickr and whichever video sharing service they acquire.
