Donald trumps the travel sites
January 25, 2006
Few travel web sites manage to insert any sense of personality to their brand. And I particularly mean the idea of a human being toiling away at the cliff face to bring you the best travel deals on the internet.
Sure we know the reality is all those search through airline reservation systems and room configurations are being operated by computers but it might be nice to know something about the team behind the site.
Now, via Hospitality World we find out Donald Trump has launched a travel site and we almost have more personality than we can handle.
Suddenly The Donald himself is tracking down the best deals for us. “With my 120% best rate guarantee!”
As Diane Clarkson at Jupiter Research discovered, they even have an area called Trump Picks The Best Hotels.
My favorite part of the latter is the message you
get while the engine searches hotels: “Please stand by while Mr. Trump searches
for your amazing deals.”
Picture him, sleeves rolled up, working the phones. My own favorite section is Trump’s welcome message, a flash file on the home page. Cover your ears. The man clearly doesn’t need the internet to communicate. He’s a walking megaphone.
Oh and let’s not spoil the personality angle by mentioning GoTrump.com is powered by Travelocity.
