AjaxTrans – cool in any language

by Neil MacLean on December 20, 2005

Here’s one incredibly cool website. Joel Parish has created AjaxTrans No, it’s not a destination for transvestites where they can upload their image and try on different clothes in real time (where did that idea come from?!).

It’s an instant translator which uses the power of Ajax to turn your beautifully turned phrases into one of five other languages as you type.

To switch languages, simply click on the language you would like to translate from and then proceed to select the language you would like to translate into. In order to swap the contents of the two boxes, use a double click.

It works brilliantly. I think.

But then if my Portuguese was good enough to confirm the accuracy of the results I wouldn’t need AjaxTrans in the first place.

http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) and World Lingo (http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html) for blog post translations (German to English and vice versa) and didn’t find the results satisfactory. But maybe they work better for English to Portuguese translations!

Neil, I tried Ajax Translator, Google (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) and World Lingo (http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html) for blog post translations (German to English and vice versa) and didn’t find the results satisfactory. But maybe they work better for English to Portuguese translations!

Thanks Andrea
I’ll remember not to use it to communicate with any of my German friends.
On the other hand, Belgians think it’s quite good – http://www.conversationblog.com/journal/2005/11/21/ajax-web-translation-tool.html
